In God We Trust?

00:00 / 01:04

April 30, 2023

Pastor Pat Montgomery

1 Peter 2, John 10:1-10

Instead of trusting God, we over-invest and trust in political processes. Instead of trusting in God we over invest and trust in economic wealth that we feel gives us a greater measure of control and allows us to try and purchase the outcomes we desire. Instead of trusting in God…We over invest and trust in our rights to use force with the idea that safety or well-being are strictly in our own hands...

Inheritance

00:00 / 01:04

April 23, 2023

Pastor Pat Montgomery

1 Peter 1:3-25, Luke 24:13-35

As a pastor, very few years have gone by where some tale of a family having an inheritance dispute has crept up. Or someone needed to talk things through because they were still severely troubled by a long past inheritance squabble.

Get Off The Fence

00:00 / 01:04

April 16, 2023

Pastor Pat Montgomery

John 20:19-31, 1 Kings 18

By definition, science is never complete. It is always an ongoing effort to amass knowledge covering general truths using the scientific method. It implies a constant reevaluation as a hypothesis is tested over and over again…changing small variables as one proceeds…to determine if changing the smallest variable…changes the outcome. Even if science were a 100% exact science, which it never is, it is still being wielded by very fallible humans with their own inherent biases and often unconscious agendas.

Pastor Pat Montgomery

John 11:17-21, 2nd Corinthians 4:16-18, Luke 24:1-12

To experience deeper relationships one may have to die to their efforts to always be right. Or in control. To experience greater peace one may have to die to the idea that some of our most deeply held values may not be Christ’s values. Perhaps they need to be re-thought.

April 2, 2023

Pastor Pat Montgomery

Matthew 21:1-11, – Luke 22:1-23, Mark 14:43-15:15, Matthew 27:27-31

Pastor Pat introduces what the Stations of the Cross are, where they started, why they lost popularity and being used for a while, then came back into more use. We then concentrate on several paintings depicting this Holy Week.

I See Bunnies

Pastor Pat Montgomery

John 9:1-41, Psalm 23

I believe, that to be a Christian means to be a disciple. A disciplined follower of Jesus and his ways. To me it does not mean to be uniquely Presbyterian, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist or what have you, although I believe that denominational structures can aid us enormously in living out our faith; according to the Bible faith must be practiced in community. But in its simplest form, being a disciple of Jesus means...
