Deacons

[Home]

The Board of Deacons, under the jurisdiction of the Session, oversees the ministry to those in need, to the sick, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.

The nine member Board of Deacons has the responsibility of several caring missions:

  • Visitation of the elderly, ill, homebound and grieving
  • Providing a fellowship time including refreshments or a light meal following a funeral or memorial service.
  • Coordinating meals delivered to the home of a member recovering from surgery or illness.
  • Remembering members with greeting cards - birthdays, encouragement, get well, sympathy, congratulations, etc.
  • Providing audio tapes of worship services for ill or homebound members
  • Preparing communion elements and coordinating communion servers.

The Board of Deacons additionally extends a caring hand to the Cody community by providing financial assistance to various non-profit service agencies such as:

  • Crisis Intervention
  • Cody Council on Aging
  • Children’s Resource Center
  • Families on the Frontline
  • Needy kids at Cody elementary and middle schools.
  • Spirit Mountain Hospice
  • Coordinating members donations to the Cody Cupboard.
  • Providing Thanksgiving meals for distribution by Department of Family Services to needy Cody families and seniors.
  • Assisting families or individuals who are experiencing difficult situations with utility, rent and medical bills.
